Open Learning MSc in Economic Management and Policy at the University of Strathclyde

Mode of Delivery

VLE: It is the use of the VLE (virtual learning environment) that allows us to deliver the MSc EMP Programme by Open Learning to the same high quality that we offer with Full-Time study. We use Moodle, also recently adopted by the Open University and many other universities worldwide.

Teaching and learning materials: Available to you at any time and place, provided you have access to the internet.

Real interaction with staff: Each class is offered twice a year, with active tutor support. You can discuss matters with tutors as often and as intensively as if you were a full-time student. Staff will moderate your learning, detect problems, post matters or suggestions of general interest to on-line conference facilities, and keep you actively and fully involved.

Real interaction with other participants: A vital part of the open learning process. This is an applied economics degree. We involve you in problem solving and report writing, doing so in teams with fellow students, using the VLE software.

Major learning advantages: With individuals studying more-or-less contemporaneously, you can discuss problems with other students online, compare solutions and share ideas. Most of our students are in managerial positions, so there is a wealth of experience for you to share and draw upon. Tutors can provide maximum input to the learning process in this way.

Guest speakers, key presentations: All available to you, facilitated by the VLE.

Learning experience - the student view: Read our students' comments on their experience on the Open Learning MSc in EMP.
